Last night I had the privilege of giving a presentation to more than 50 0f my faithful supporters; giving a glimpse into the work that God accomplished through all of you in Romania. For those of you who were unable to attend, here is what I said.
Scripture tells us, "What is impossible with man is possible with God." I believe that our recent efforts to minister to the people of Romania give us a crystal clear example of this timeless Biblical truth.
As I look out among you this evening, I am amazed, and humbled at the faith and dedication that you have in serving our Lord. I am honored to have been your ambassador to the people of Romania.
As many of you know, this marks the third time that I have had the privilege of traveling to serve the Romanian people. Being that it was my third trip, you might think that this would have been an easy trip for me to take. I was returning to a familiar country, so the language, the food, and much of the culture would all be relatively familiar to me.
While it is true that I do know some of the most commonly used Romanian words and phrases, and I know that meals largely consist of cabbage and potatoes; that pizza is made using a European form of Catsup as the sauce, and that you will seldom find a cold beverage in Romania, this trip consisted of many unknowns as well. In fact, the unknowns began to unfold long before I ever set foot in Romania.
I am a planner by nature, so when I made the decision back in June to return to Romania I had a very well-laid plan as to how I would go about raising the needed funds, collecting supplies, and tying up all the essential loose ends before leaving. Shortly after my application was accepted however, I discovered that my well-laid plan was not going to meet my needs in the time frame that I had been give by the mission organization.
According to their materials they needed 50% of the total funds 60 days prior to departure. That left me with only 17 days to raise $1500. At that point I know that apart from God’s Devine intervention this trip was not going happen.
There was nothing I could do, but turn this over to God and wait on Him for results. It was then that it became clear that this ministry was going to be partnership between God, myself, and a zealous team of people that only God could organize. It was through your obedience, and the giving of your time and resources, both monetary and material, that God used to bring His plans to fruition.
It was everybody doing their part. It was somebody with the gift of organization creating bulletin inserts. It was another person following God’s lead and putting a check in the mail that arrived in my mailbox the morning it was needed. It was someone else enhancing my luggage tags, so that in the event that the airport personal neglected to do their job correctly, I would have my essentials shortly after arriving in Romania. It was another person giving of their luggage, and offering me the use of their cell phone.
It was your monetary gifts that not only covered the cost of the trip itself, and met my needs, but the needs of others as well. Not only in Romania, but as I traveled. It was you who bought lunch for someone in need at the airport in Chicago. You made it possible for a woman in distress to make a needed phone call to Kurdistan. You brought smiles to the faces two little Austrian girls as they munched on cookies while waiting for a flight to Vienna. You gave a group of Romanian children something new and exciting to look forward to everyday after school. It was your prayers that sustained me though difficult moments when I was in need of wisdom and strength to make it through the day.
Upon landing in Romania my time was divided between a number of things, but my focus was on the mothers and children residing at the River of Life Care Home in the small village Cornesti. A home established to give refuge women and children in crisis situations. Currently there are four mothers and seven children residing in the home.
Many of these women either grew up in the government orphanage system, or they have mental challenges that affect their ability to interact with people. As such they do not know how to interact with, and treat their children in a loving manor. By interacting with these women one on one, and by providing constructive activities for the children, both in play, and in practical skills, I was able to show them by example how to have positive relationships with each other.
While I did enjoy many of my interactions with these women and their children there were some difficult moments. Perhaps nothing was more difficult than watching a mother mistreat her daughter and ignore all words of correction form me; leaving the room, and leaving her sick little girl look looking up at me with sad, tired eyes. There was little that I could do other than to hold the child and give her the assurance that someone cares. Within minutes she was sleeping peacefully on my shoulder.
While ministering in Cornesti I had a couple of opportunities to walk through the village and get a glimpse into the conditions that these people endure on a daily basis. In many places throughout the village the sidewalks are broken up, and livestock was either tide to a stake by the side of the road, or left to roam at will. At one point I had a goat cross the road right in front of me.
While many of the village houses look to be stucco they are constructed of mud and manure bricks and covered in about an inch thick layer of concrete to keep them from crumbling.
Being that this village was a formerly a communist communal farm many of the current residents are retired farmers who live only on the meager pension that they receive form the government. As such, many of these people don’t have enough money to afford to put a window in their home. The holes for the windows have been cut, but many remain vacant.
In addition to spending time with the women and children at the home in Cornesti, I also had the opportunity to take part in ministry to the elderly from the village as they were brought to the Care Home Church on Wednesday afternoons for a hot meal, fellowship, and a short bible based activity in which we created Sunflowers out of paper plates, and construction paper, and discussed the fruits of the spirit.
I was also able to take part in an English club and encourage students of all ages as they sought to expand their knowledge of the English language. It was noted very early on in that evening that I spoke English like an American. Some of the students were quite surprised to learn that I am one. With my dark hair and green eyes I may look like a Romanian, but had they asked me to speak their language there would have been no question about my nationality, or my primary language.
I was also given the rare opportunity to offer a brief word of encouragement to some new mothers at a crisis pregnancy center. In the course of my answering their questions about living with physical limitations one woman commented to me, "You seem so happy." Her statement gave me the opportunity to give her the perspective that true happiness can not be based on the temporal things of this would. True happiness lies in an eternal hope that can only be found in Christ.
Giving this message to a people who’s country that was held in the vice grip of communism for 24 years, and is still struggling in many ways was an unforgettable experience. These people really don’t have much in the way of worldly goods to be happy about. With only 2% of the countries total population being Christian, it is likely that this perspective new to at least one person in the room.
I am grateful to have had the opportunity to return to Romania and to put my hands to work on your behalf. Thank you again for your support!
For those of you who are faithful in prayer, I would appreciate your payers as I consider further ministry to the Romanian people. A couple of amazing opportunities have been brought before me and I am in need of wisdom and direction as I consider them. What Romania taught me part 1
Why me?
As I reflect on my most recent experience of working alongside the Lord in Romania I can’t help but ask, Why me. Why would God choose to send me to Romania? The only explanation that I can come to is that He wanted to show me how mighty He is.
If you spoke with me at any length in the days and weeks leading up to my departure, I have no doubt that you sensed a thick quilt of apprehension covering the excitement and enthusiasm that I felt in returning to this country that I have grown to love.
Like Gideon I found myself unsure of accomplishing the task that God had called me to. I wanted to go, but circumstances told me that this was impossible. On several occasions I found myself thinking, “God are you sure?” I’m small, I’m weak I’m, tired, and in pain. Are you sure I am the right servant for this task? With every God I’m_________ that I would express to Him God would tenderly respond, “I’m God”
Intellectually, I knew that God was God, and nothing is impossible with Him. However, until I had been striped of my plans, and everything that I knew to be comfortable; until I had nothing to stand on but faith, and the promises of God I never took a firm hold of these timeless truths.
Physical circumstance said that I would be a fool to travel to Romania. Who takes a trip of this magnitude after spending months on bed rest? But, I’ve learned that giving ones life to Christ is to surrender my ideas for His. It is not about human ability. God does not think in human terms. It’s about being available to Him. Having no agenda of my own, but placing myself in God’s hands as a tool for Him to use as He wills. Then waiting expertly for God to move, and following Him where He leads. When doing this I find that His strength is made perfect in weakness, and the impossible becomes more than possible. He is mighty!
Here are some pictures of my trip. More pictures and stories will be comming soon. Stay tuned.

Packing Planning and Preparing For Take Off
The sand is rapidly slipping through the hour glass. Less 48 hours from now I will be on my way to Romania. These last 8 weeks have flown by and I have seen God work in ways that I could never have imagined. Thank you for the countless ways that you have supported this endeavor! I am humbled by your faith and generosity.
This week has flown by and has been a bit of a struggle for me. I have been tying up loose ends while physically under the weather. All of my planning (with the exception of my Sunday school lesson) is complete. All three of my suitcases are packed and ready to role. I am sure all of them weigh more than 50 pounds. What can I say, you are so generous!

I did my best to pack as many of your supplies in my suitcases as possible. What I could not fit in my bags has been packed up in 3 boxes. Two of these boxes I haves sent to a friend who is headed over at a later date. One very large box will be shipped by container within the next month or two. Here is the evidence of your overwhelming generosity.

I will spend much of tomorrow cleaning and resting. I will be leaving shortly after 8:00 CST on Sunday morning. Your prayers are needed and very much appreciated. I am traveling by myself.
I will be leaving from O’Hare at 4:30 Pm and flying to Vienna. I will land in Vienna at 2:10 AM CST with a 4-hour overlay. I will land in Timisoara, Romania at 7:35 Am CST Monday morning. (It will be 3:35 PM in Romania.)

Prayer Requests for Ministry Trip to Romania

The clock is winding down quickly as I continue to prepare for ministry in Romania. The support that I have received over these last several weeks is like nothing I have ever seen before. It is clear that God is unfolding an amazing plan in my midst. He continues to meet my every need.
Financially speaking, the basic cost of the trip has been completely covered. And I have enough supplies to supply an entire team. Due to the overwhelming number of supplies, and the weight restrictions that the airline has on luggage, I am going to have to take a couple extra suitcases. Each extra bag will cost me $105 a piece. Due to this cost I am sill in need of financial support to cover these expenses.
Your prayers are of supreme importance at this time. The logistics of this trip are much greater than any that I have dealt with before. I was recently informed by the mission agency that I will have to take a very significant amount of money with me to pay for my room and board, as well as other ministry expenses that I will incur. With this in mind, Please pray for my safety.
I was also informed last Saturday that the lady I am to be traveling with may not be able to go due to some physical problems. If she does not go, I will be traveling by myself. Please pray that God’s will would be done in this situation. I will know for sure if she is going or not on Saturday evening.
I will not have a wheelchair at O’Hare airport. Please pray that God would put people in my path that would help me when needed. Asking for help is not one of my strong points. Asking favors of strangers is even more difficult for me.
This endeavor is taking me much further out of my comfort zone that I ever imagined. My time in Romania will be nonstop ministry. The days will be full and very long. Please pray for my physical stamina.
I have no idea exactly what this trip will hold for me. I have received word yesterday that I will be speaking to a CPC in Timisoara. I will spend part of my Wednesdays with some of the elderly form the village. Much of Sunday will be spent at church. (Romanian church services run rather long.) I will also be spending quite a bit of time with the moms and children at the care home.
Other than that I will simply be available; ready to spring into action at any moment for any task. Please pray that I would have wisdom, and would respond in a Christ like manor to every situation.
Also, pray for all those whom I will encounter throughout this experience- in travel and ministry. That seeds would be planted on fertile ground and hears would be softened by the message of the gospel.
Thank you for your prayers and support. I am honored to be serving with you.

Blessed be Your Name- Fii Binecuvantat

This has been one exhausting week! I feel like I have been physically and emotionally stretched beyond my limit! I have spent a majority of this weeks planning activatesto do with the children in Romania. On Friday I made a trip to Peoria to see my neurosurgeon, and get her take on my muscle spasms and continual headaches. She said I was entirely too tight, and she turned my pump up another significant percentage. We’ll see if this helps any. I will get the pump turned up again when I return home from Romania.
Speaking of Romania, I received word this morning that the lady that I am to be going with may not be able to go after all. She is having some physical problems and unless she can get them resolved before we leave she will be unable to go. I would appreciate your payers as I now turn to “plan B” and prepare to travel alone. I would not be with a team. I would simply be flying into Timisoara, meting up with a missionary couple, and working in a village about 15 miles outside the city. I am somewhat apprehensive I have never flown all the way to Romania alone before, but I am confident that God will continue to meet all of my needs. Thanks you for your payers. I will keep you posted. This song seemed fiting for me today.

Romania 23 Days and Counting
I venture to say that there is nothing more amazing then watching God unfold His plan and then realizing that He has you right in the middle of it. God continues to show me that He is keeping watch over every detail of this trip. I have been continually reminded that I need only to keep my eyes on Him and He will straiten my path.
As of Monday, International Messengers had almost the entire amount of what is needed to cover the cost of the trip.
My tickets have been purchased; my flight rerouted. These changes mean that my flight actually cost $15.00 less then the amount that I was last quoted, costing only $1245. The rout change has me coming home with a 5 hour overlay in Vienna and arriving at O’Hare a couple hours later, but it also means that I do not have to catch a connecting flight from Vienna to Frankfort before heading to Chicago.
I met with one of the missionary couples yesterday to gain a better understanding of what this ministry is all about. We also discussed possible ministry opportunities with the children and the elderly in the village, as well as what we can do to help the moms.
This missionary couple is in the process of adopting a little Romanian boy. Due to legalities they were not able to bring their son on this 2-month trip back to the states. They specifically asked me to help out at the home with they son. I was also asked to teach an hour-long Sunday school class for the children entailing a bible lesson, a craft and games.
Wednesdays will be spent with the elderly. They will gather in the church behind the care home for a time of food and fellowship. I have been asked to come up with a craft for these gatherings as well.
I have never considered myself to be a craft person I think I’ve stepped into deep water with this. I decided that it would be fun to make paper plate
Sunflowers, because there are sunflower fields in Romania.
I made one today to make sure I remembered how it is done. As it turns out I will have to trace and cutout 400 peddles in order to have enough for everyone. Does anyone have any other simple craft ideas that don’t require as much prep work? I would appreciate any and all suggestions.
For those of you who still want to donate supplies here are a few things that the missionaries have specifically asked me to bring over regular M&Ms, brown sugar, peanut butter, chocolate chips, Red licorice, reading glasses (2.5 and below), gluten free cookies, green and yellow construction paper.
God seems to be removing any obstacles in my path, and I am confident that He will takes care of the weight of luggage too. I called the airline yesterday to get the rundown of the cost for overweight bags, and an extra suitcase. It's not as bad as it could be, but it's still expensive. We'll see what happens. I'll do whatever it takes to get all the supplies over there.
I think "doing whatever it takes" is going to be my motto for this trip. I am still baffled by the persistence and severity of my headaches and overall pain level. Nevertheless, with God all things are possible. I will do my best to keep my eyes on Him and try not becoming too concerned with these billowing waves of pain. We'll see what the doctor has to say next Friday. Thank you for Your Prayers and support.
Sincerely,

Inching closer to Romania
And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19
I feel more like a child anticipating the arrival of Christmas with each passing day as I watch the details of this trip to Romania come together. I continue to be amazed at God's provisions, and the attention that He has given to even the most minute details. In the last three days I have crept more than $300 closer to meeting my financial obligation, I have begun to iron out many of the necessary logistics for travel, and I have seen a glumes of the vast number of ministry opportunities that await me.
I have been warned that due to the unfortunate reality that this ministry is largely understaffed, they work their short-term missionaries to the bone. Believe it or not, this is music to my ears. I am sure that I will encounter some challenges physically, but I am confident that with God's help, many prayers, and my years of experience at putting mind over matter, this mission can be successfully accomplished.
I have been told that I will not only be serving in the transition home, but also in village ministry to the elderly, the children, and at a children's hospital. I anticipate these to be some very long, taxing, but joy filled days.
There are still many things that need to come together in the next five weeks. More than anything I want to make some sense of this ongoing medical maze that I find myself in. Everything seems to point to the amazing reality that God wants me in Romania, but part of me wants to see exactly how He is going to physically sustain me.
Some things are difficult to take on blind faith. However, I am reminded that faith is being sure of what I hope for and certain of what I do not see. No matter the circumstances that surround me, God can and deserves to be trusted. He has given us a hope that has been promised not to disappoint.
Thank you for your prayers and Support.

The Door of Opportunity
I recently heard a pastor say, “God makes a way when we get out of the way.” Scripture tells us that God can open doors that no man can shut, and he shuts doors that no man can open. Over the last several months I have experienced closed doors more times then I care to admit. In fact, as I lay confined to bed rest day after day, for the better part of three months at the begining of this yeasr, I felt as if my every hope and dream had been crushed, like dry leaves under the quickened feet of a child, right before my very eyes. I felt as though God had left me to do nothing more then painfully exist in this rock spinning in outer space.Upon surrendering my plans for God’s perfect will however, I discovered that God does make a way when we get out of the way. Not only so, but he does this in ways that will leave us speechless, recognizing that what we have just experienced could only happen by God’s divine intervention. So it has been with my latest efforts to minister to the people of Romania.
It was one month ago this past Monday that I was accepted to partner with International Messengers in this outreach. As you may recall, upon receiving word of my acceptance I was at a loss as to where I should begin in raising the needed amount of financial support. I felt as though I had been blindfolded and thrust into unfamiliar territory.
I am a planner by nature. I always try to plan what I am going to do and I begin devising a plan of action well ahead of time, so that all of my ducks are in a row when the sun comes up on the designated day of any given event. That is not to say that I cannot adapt to change. Having been given the gift of Cerebral Palsy, adaptation is the story of my life. Even if the schedule for the day has the potential not to pan out like it was planned, I still want to see the original schedule.
So, when it came to this trip, and the realization that I only had 17 days, rather then my typical time frame of three months, to raise 1500 dollars, I became very anxious. I had so much to do, so little time, and not a working printer at my disposal. But, God in his grace and mercy came through, and with the help of a pastor I found myself with a stack of letters fresh off the printer, and the opportunity to speak to not one, not two, but four churches.
Now, one month and three days later, I am standing in awe of all that has transpired. I have received well over half of my needed financial support, (I received the last portion of my first $1,500 the morning that it was due) a quote for airfare that is more then $200 less then the figure that I was originally given, and all but about $15 of the amount that I need to cover my personal expenses.
While there is still money to be raised, and I have some apprehensions concerning the state my heath while I am gone, I am sure that God would not bring me this far only to back off when I get to Romania. I have no idea what this trip will hold, but I am confident that God is going to do something amazing, and am honored to be a part of it. THANK YOU to all of you who have chosen to personally invest in this ministry. May God bless each of you beyond your wildest imagination.

In the News

Today, have the privilege of being featured in an article in our county newspaper. I am grateful that they chose to do this story to highlight the needs of some of the hurting in Romania. It is an honor to be a part of what God is doing across the globe.
As is often the case with the media however, there are a couple of minor discrepancies in the article. Perhaps the most obvious is the headline. I am not a teenager. I need to remember that I don’t look my age, and make a point of clarifying how old I am, so that such mistakes as this don't happen.
I have been refund to as a “teen” many times since I parted ways with my teenage years, some six years ago. With all the comments and questions that I get regarding my age I would really like to find some kind of formula that makes me look my actual age. That said, I am sure I will be commending these remarks in years to come.

Jehovah Jireh
It seems that there has been one bend in the road after another this week. I am struggling to keep up with the pace of life. I continue to battle severe headaches and my balance has been far form stable causing me to fall. I am headache free right now, but my left leg is throbbing.
This cycle of unending pain is taxing me beyond measure. In a way I am thankful for the change in pain. At least I don’t have a headache. But, at the same time I can find no relief from my throbbing muscles and bones.
As much as I want to demand relief form the Lord I have to believe that He is not blind to this pain, nor is He deaf to the cry of my heart. Everything that come to me come having been sifted though His fingers. In His strengths this can be endured. In faith I stand on the promise that this is achieving for me something far greater then I can comprehend.
It is with this in mind that I press on to that which I have been called. God continues to amaze me with the way He is working to bring together all that I need for my upcoming trip to Romania. As many of you know, I needed $1,500 by Tuesday, August 5th. Late on Monday I calculated my total and it came to $1018. I was not discounting God, but logically I was pretty sure that I was not going to meet the Tuesday deadline.
I wasn't worried. The organization already said that since I have been to Romania twice previously, they know that I am committed, and they are not going to worry about money.
But, just because He can, and because He is never late in meeting our needs, God proved my lack of expectation wrong.
When the mail came in on Tuesday morning I was astounded upon opening an envelope containing a $500-gift. That brought my total to $1,518 toward the cost of the trip itself, In addition I have received $265 toward the cost of my personal expenses. As of today, my support has totaled $1,983 over all.
I still have a ways to go with the financial portion of this, and there are many other details to be ironed out. But I am convinced that with God all things are possible. I am waiting to see how the rest of these details come together.
Along those lines, a newspaper reporter contacted me this morning requesting an opportunity to do a human-interest story on my trip. With some apprehension I obliged. The interview is scheduled for 9:00AM on Monday morning.
I would appreciate your prayers going into this. I have never done anything like this. I pray that all that I say will be pleasing to our Lord. Please pray also that I am in minimal pain Monday morning, so that I can concentrate fully on this interview.
Thank you for your continued prayers and support. I greatly appreciate each of you.

WIth God all things are possible
What is impossible with man is possible with God.
If wealth were measured not in monetary increments, but by the number of faithful friends that a person has, I am convinced that I would be one of the wealthiest young women alive. The outpouring of encouragement, financial, and prayerful support that I have received in this last week as I prepare to return to Romania is something that only God could orchestrate. I am humbled and overwhelmed by the generosity that so many of you have shown. THANK YOU for choosing to invest in this ministry.
It is clear that this is not an endeavor that I am undertaking alone. This is God's people coming together believing that God will take our efforts, and use them for His glory in the lives of the Romanian people. To think that I have the opportunity to physically go and put my hands to work on behalf of all of you is truly amazing. Yes, with God all things are possible.
There is still quite a distance to be traveled before I cross the functional finish line to cover the cost of this trip. But, by the grace of God, and due to your generosity, I am much further along than I every expected to be at this time.
I would appreciate your continued payers as I continue to plan and prepare for this trip. There are many loose ends that need to be tied up before I leave. If you have yet to make a donation, and would like to do so, please click here to find out more. Thank you for your partnership in bringing hope to the people of Romania. I am honored to be serving with you.

Support Raising Update
I am slowly creeping forward with fundraising. I spoke at two small churches this morning, and came away with $55.00. Nest Sunday my letter and response card will be included in the bulletin at one of the churches and I will be distributing the letter and response card at two other churches .
Over the next few days I have loads of paperwork to do, and about 70 letters to address, stamp and mail. Please pray that I will have the energy to keep up with all of these demands. The last 48 hours have been a whirlwind, and to be quite honest, I am exhausted! Thank you for your prayers they are greatly needed, and very much appreciated! I appreciate the opportunity to partner with you, as together we bring hope to the hurting in Romania.

Peace Like a River
I must admit the last 24 hours have been a whirlwind. I have been praying for wisdom, and peace to flood me like a river. Without it I will succumb to the rushing demands of life as I prepare to return to Romania.
As you may know, things for my upcoming trip to Romania are moving much quicker then I ever anticipated. My application was fully accepted on July 15th. I received all of the official trip details yesterday morning. Upon looking everything over, and clarifying the information with the IM staff, I have been informed that half of my support needs to be in the International Messengers office sixty days prior to departure. Which means that I need to raise $1500 dollars by August 5th!
I would appreciate your prayers as I trust the Lord to provide for my need. If you would like more information about the trip, or how you can partner with me please click here. Thanks you for your prayers and support.
As I have been planning and praying this song has been running through my mind. I absolutely love sings with Romania children, and this song is one of their favorites. Enjoy!

Will you join me?
As many of you know, over the last few years I have had the opportunity to partner with Heart to Heart International Ministries in meeting the needs of some of the orphaned children in Romania. This fall I will have the opportunity to expand on my previous experience as I plan to return to Romania, in partnership with International Messengers, to meet the needs of some young unwed mothers living in a transition home in rural Cornisti, Romania. The purpose of this trip is simply to share the love of Christ by assisting the full-time missionary couple, the women, and children in every way possible. I will be going at a time when one of the missionaries will be returning to the states on business. This will offer me the opportunity to shoulder some of the burden of keeping the house running smoothly while he is gone.
In order for this trip to be possible I need to have a firm foundation to stand on. One built through the prayer and financial support of friends like you. Money is the seed by which ministry can begin, but it is only through your prayers that this seed will be able to take root and grow.
The total cost of this trip is $3,000, which I need to raise by no later than September 15,2008. This cost covers all of my transportation, ministry materials, and room and board. If you would like to make a financial contribution toward this endeavor, checks can be made payable to International Messengers and sent to: International Messengers* P.O. Box 618* Clear Lake IA* 50428. Please include a note with your gift indicating that the funds are for me, but do NOT put my name on the memo line. My first payment of $1, 500 is needed in the IM office byTuesday, August 5, 2008.
In addition to the$3,000 that is needed to cover the basic trip costs, I will need about $300 to cover the cost of personal expenses such as bottled water, and the luggage fee that I will incur in bringing over needed supplies for the women and children. If you would like to help me in this regard Please contact me oneofsixsiblings@gmail.com.
Thank you for your support. Together we can bring hope to the hurting in Romania.
