Romania 23 Days and Counting

I venture to say that there is nothing more amazing then watching God unfold His plan and then realizing that He has you right in the middle of it. God continues to show me that He is keeping watch over every detail of this trip. I have been continually reminded that I need only to keep my eyes on Him and He will straiten my path.

As of Monday, International Messengers had almost the entire amount of what is needed to cover the cost of the trip.

My tickets have been purchased; my flight rerouted. These changes mean that my flight actually cost $15.00 less then the amount that I was last quoted, costing only $1245. The rout change has me coming home with a 5 hour overlay in Vienna and arriving at O’Hare a couple hours later, but it also means that I do not have to catch a connecting flight from Vienna to Frankfort before heading to Chicago.

I met with one of the missionary couples yesterday to gain a better understanding of what this ministry is all about. We also discussed possible ministry opportunities with the children and the elderly in the village, as well as what we can do to help the moms.

This missionary couple is in the process of adopting a little Romanian boy. Due to legalities they were not able to bring their son on this 2-month trip back to the states. They specifically asked me to help out at the home with they son. I was also asked to teach an hour-long Sunday school class for the children entailing a bible lesson, a craft and games.

Wednesdays will be spent with the elderly. They will gather in the church behind the care home for a time of food and fellowship. I have been asked to come up with a craft for these gatherings as well.

I have never considered myself to be a craft person I think I’ve stepped into deep water with this. I decided that it would be fun to make paper plate
Sunflowers, because there are sunflower fields in Romania.

I made one today to make sure I remembered how it is done. As it turns out I will have to trace and cutout 400 peddles in order to have enough for everyone. Does anyone have any other simple craft ideas that don’t require as much prep work? I would appreciate any and all suggestions.

For those of you who still want to donate supplies here are a few things that the missionaries have specifically asked me to bring over regular M&Ms, brown sugar, peanut butter, chocolate chips, Red licorice, reading glasses (2.5 and below), gluten free cookies, green and yellow construction paper.



God seems to be removing any obstacles in my path, and I am confident that He will takes care of the weight of luggage too. I called the airline yesterday to get the rundown of the cost for overweight bags, and an extra suitcase. It's not as bad as it could be, but it's still expensive. We'll see what happens. I'll do whatever it takes to get all the supplies over there.

I think "doing whatever it takes" is going to be my motto for this trip. I am still baffled by the persistence and severity of my headaches and overall pain level. Nevertheless, with God all things are possible. I will do my best to keep my eyes on Him and try not becoming too concerned with these billowing waves of pain. We'll see what the doctor has to say next Friday. Thank you for Your Prayers and support.
